Kakinada: A POCSO case was registered by Nidadavole Rural police against a school assistant for harassing girl students of his school. An inquiry was already conducted against D. Nagamani Raju of Zilla Parishad High School in Katakoteswaram in Nidadavole mandal, as per the complaint filed by his wife to the school authorities.
The headmaster complained with the police on Thursday. According to K.Vasudeva Rao from the education department, Raju’s wife complained about his behaviour towards the students. District collector P. Prashanthi directed the Women and Child Welfare Project Officer to investigate the incident. She, along with the ICDS advocate and the district educational officer, conducted an inquiry and received deposition from the students. As per the inquiry, the collector suspended the school assistant.
Nidadavole Rural SI S. Ramesh said a case has been registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. He added that an investigation would be made soon.
The district collector said that a departmental inquiry was conducted on August 13. She made it clear that the employees should follow the Andhra Pradesh Civil Services Code of Conduct and if they behave against the code of conduct, stringent action would be taken against him.
