Police to Seek Fresh Custody of Ex-MLA Vamsi
Authorities claim strong evidence in kidnap and SC/ST Act case; ex-MLA sent to district jail after custody ends.

Vijayawada: Police may seek fresh custody of former MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi to continue quizzing him and get more information. His three days’ police custody was over, and he was handed over to the District Jail here on Thursday.
Police sources said he did not disclose much details on the case of kidnap, intimidation and violation of provisions of SC and ST Act of M Satyavardhan. “We intend to move court to seek his custody for more days,” the sources said.
The police claim they had sufficient evidence like CCTV footage, toll gates data of movement of his vehicle and also the data of his vehicle’s fast tag to track his movement. “We also have evidence of Satyavardhan purchasing clothes in Visakhapatnam.”
When the ex-MLA was produced before a local court after completion of police custody, the magistrate asked him whether he faced any trouble during his police questioning. He made no complaint, but said he was having some health issues and hence wanted to be kept in the barrack along with another prisoner.
The magistrate noted that an attendant was already provided to him. “Your advocate can file a plea in regular court on Friday, seeking a change of the cell and for having another prisoner in his cell,” the court proposed.
The government pleader informed the court that the former MLA was kept alone in a cell and a warden was kept near his cell. Later, the former MLA was handed over to the district jail authorities in continuation of his judicial remand.
