Ram Mohan Naidu Sworn In as Union Cabinet Minister

A first for north Andhra region

Visakhapatnam: With the NDA giving two senior minister posts to the Telugu Desam party in the central government, Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu was sworn in on Sunday as a cabinet minister.

This marks a historic moment for the north Andhra region that had never got a cabinet minister post in Delhi.

Ram Mohan Naidu is a young and dynamic politician who performed well in parliament. He took his oath of office alongside Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Ram Mohan Naidu entered politics following the untimely death of his father in 2012, after which he represented the Srikakulam constituency since the 2014 elections. He retained the seat in 2019 and 2024.

His tenure has been marked by noticeable parliamentary engagement, evidenced by his 93 per cent attendance rate in the 16th Lok Sabha, well above the national and state averages.

Throughout his terms, RM Naidu participated in debates 98 times and raised 444 questions.

Apart from his legislative duties, Ram Mohan Naidu held positions in parliamentary committees, including in the standing Committees on Railways and Home Affairs, and the consultative committee on the tourism and culture ministry.

His was also in the committee on welfare of Other Backward Classes and the official language department.

As the heneral secretary and Lok Sabha floor leader of the TD, Ram Mohan Naidu has represented India on international platforms, such as the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly, where he advocated international peace and nuclear disarmament.

A citation noted that Ram Mohan Naidu launched the Politics for Impact internship programme, aimed at fostering youth participation in politics and governance.

After the announcement, RM Naidu released a video thanking TD chief Chandra Babu Naidu, Pawan Kalyan, PM Modi and others for their trust in him.
