Rare Successive Win in Uravakonda Assembly Constituency

Anantapur: Telugu Desam candidate Payyavula Kesav has created a history of sorts by winning from the Uravakonda assembly constituency for the second successive time.

Uravakonda has had the history of not electing a sitting MLA again. A sitting MLA has always lost in case the person contested again from the Uravakonda constituency. This has been happening since 1994.

However, this tradition has been broken in 2024. Payyavula Kesav of TD who had won the Uravakonda seat in 2019 with a majority of 2,132 seats, has gone on to win from the constituency again in 2024.

Kesav defeated his nearest rival Y. Visweswar Reddy of YSRC with over 21,000 votes.

Speaking on the occasion, the TD winning candidate told Deccan Chronicle that he had made a serious effort to break the negative sentiment. The tour of TD chief N. Chandrababu Naidu of Uravakonda constituency had strengthened his hands.
