Rayalaseema Temples Gearing Up for Shivaratri

Lepakshi Temple committee has announced that the Shivarathri Jagarana will witness exclusive cultural programmes.

Anantapur: Anantapur, Satya Sai and Kadapa districts, where historic temples of Lord Shiva are located, are gearing up for the Shivaratri festival, as these shrines draw huge crowds of devotees.

Lepakshi, the five-century-old Lord Veerabhadra Swamy Temple in Satya Sai district, has made all arrangements for its annual Brahmotsavam celebrations coinciding with the Shivarathri. Its annual Brahma Rathotsavam will pass through the Lepakshi main street.

More than three lakh devotees are expected from the entire south India at the 11th century Nolamba Pallava dynasty’s Hemavathi Temple, where Lord Shiva appears in the human form. Lord Siddeswara Swamy of the temple will be offered at least a tonne of sambrani offered at the specially set up Agnigundam the next day of Shivaratri.

Both AP and Karnataka RTCs will be operating their buses to this shrine.

Similarly, Siddavatam Kona and Polathala Kona in Pendlimarri mandal in Kadapa district are gearing up for Shivarathri festivities.
