Repalle police arrest two for organising cockfights
VIJAYAWADA: Repalle Town police raided a cockfight arena at Bethapudi village on Sunday, arrested two people and seized two roosters from them along with ₹1,000.
The raid followed when Repalle DSP Srinivasa Rao received information in this regard. Following instructions from circle inspector Mallikarjuna Rao, Repalle sub-inspector led a team and raided the cockfight area in the village, leading to the arrests and seizures.
The CI said the two arrested individuals will be produced before a magistrate. He also warned people that strict action will be taken if they organise or participate in any form of gambling activities during the Sankranti festival.
Meanwhile, Atkuru police in Krishna district conducted raids in China Avutapalli and Tempalli villages and served notices to organisers preparing arenas for rooster fights in the villages.
