Vijayawada: Municipal administration minister Ponguru Narayana on Sunday said the state government is considering construction of a retaining wall along the Budameru rivulet to prevent floods.The minister, along with MSME Minister Kondapalli Srinivas, visited Indira Naik Nagar in Vijayawada, which has been flooded by the Budameru Rivulet. The ministers also visited Indira Naik Nagar, New RR Peta, Ajith Singh Nagar and Payakapuram.
Speaking on the occasion, Narayana pointed out that construction of the retaining wall along River Krishna has checked recurrence of floods in Krishna Lanka area. Similarly, the government is considering constructing a retaining wall along the Budameru rivulet in the city limits to prevent further floods. The minister said the three breaches to the Budameru diversion channel have been filled. He asked people not to worry about Budameru floods any more. BC welfare minister S. Savitha also visited the flood-affected areas at Old Rajarajeswaripet and interacted with victims of the floods.
