Revoke suspension of NAD staff: Defence coordination panel chief
Visakhapatnam: Defence coordination committee chairman Reddy Venkata Rao has demanded the immediate reinstatement of all suspended employees of the Naval Armament Depot (NAD).
Speaking to the media on Thursday, the chairman stated that the management suspended 36 workers on 22 November after the leaders and workers at NAD demanded payment for overdue overtime work.
He highlighted that individuals who neither visited the CGM office nor were present due to leave were also included in the suspension. Following the union’s intervention, seven suspensions were revoked, but seven new employees were added to the list, Reddy Venkata Rao pointed out. The chairman criticised the new CGM for declaring that overtime wages earned thus far were unlawful and refusing to provide compensation.
The honorary president of the NAD Civil Employees Union, AV Thomas, mentioned that despite officers signing off on overtime records, the CGM refused to approve them.
Union general secretary R Srinivas and secretary of the working committee DV Srinivasa Rao announced that a bike rally protesting the management’s stance will be held on 8 December at 9 am from NAD to the Gandhi statue at GVMC, followed by a public meeting.
