Road accident near Tirupati claims three lives

TIRUPATI: A road accident on Bakarapeta Ghat Road in Chandragiri mandal, Tirupati district, on Thursday resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries.

The incident involved a container truck, carrying tomatoes from Kalakada to Chennai, which lost control at a bend and overturned onto an oncoming car. The collision claimed three lives, including one individual from Karnataka. The identities of the other two deceased are yet to be confirmed.

The district superintendent of police (SP), L. Subba Rayudu, visited the accident site to assess the situation. “We have registered a case and are investigating the incident from various angles. This stretch of road has been prone to accidents, and we are working with National Highway authorities to implement preventive measures to reduce such incidents in the future,” he stated.

The SP also mentioned that additional police forces, including additional SP Ravi Manoharachari, DSP Narasingappa (in charge of Chandragiri), and CIs Subba Rami Reddy and Imran Basha, along with local police from Bakarapeta and Chandragiri, are involved in rescue operations and managing the accident site.
