Visakhapatnam: The gravel road connecting Marrivalasa through Pasini village in Rompelli panchayat of Anantagiri mandal in Alluri Sitarama Raju district remains incomplete. Complaining that Tribal Welfare chief engineer S. Srinivasa Rao has released Rs 38.99 lakh worth bills for this incomplete road, people of tribal communities staged a dharna on Thursday demanding an investigation into the issue.
Eighty families comprising 220 people reside in Marrivalasa and Pasini tribal villages. Construction of the 40-km gravel road from Marrivalasa to Pasini villages had been started under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) in 2020–21 with a budget of Rs 60 lakh.
However, the road remains unfinished, making it impassable, especially during the rainy season. Tribes people are left with no choice but to physically carry their ill people or pregnant women up to Marrivalasa Junction Road on a Doli.
Tribes are demanding that at least the new state government complete the road work and solve their problem. Further, tribal leader Dola Sanyasi sought a comprehensive investigation against Srinivasa Rao for approving bills of Rs 38,99,143 lakh for the incomplete road.
