Row Over Pending Jobs For Kandaleru Displaced Grows
Fresh allegations of delay and irregularities in the recruitment process

TIRUPATI: The issue of pending jobs for Kandaleru displaced persons has resurfaced, with fresh allegations of delay and irregularities in the recruitment process.
Concerns have been raised over the delay in implementing employment provisions promised to families affected by the Kandaleru reservoir submergence. As per government norms, each displaced family is entitled to one job, but the process has allegedly remained incomplete for several years.
Addressing the media on Friday, BJP leader Midathala Ramesh alleged that the delay in forwarding roster-based recruitment lists from the Nellore district collector’s office to the state government has stalled appointments. He said nearly 1,500 unemployed youth from displaced families in the Kandaleru region, which falls under Zone-3, are still awaiting jobs.
Ramesh alleged administrative lapses and irregularities in the process, claiming attempts were being made to prioritise candidates from other regions. He said the situation was being misused to extend benefits to candidates from Kadapa district, even though the recruitment is meant for those affected in Nellore.
He also pointed out that parts of the Somasila submergence area fall under a different zone and said officials outside the designated jurisdiction have no authority in the recruitment process. He alleged that jobs meant for eligible displaced persons were being diverted through improper channels.
Demanding corrective measures, Ramesh urged the state government to ensure that recruitment is carried out strictly among Kandaleru displaced families. He said only lists prepared by irrigation officials under the relevant zone should be considered for appointments.
He warned that the BJP would launch protests if the issue is not addressed and if jobs are allotted to ineligible candidates.
