Naidu: Sanjeevani From Aug. 15 To Move AP From Illness To Wellness
As a move towards make available world class health services to all, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said that Sanjeevani project aimed at safeguarding public health will be launched statewide from August 15 this year.

TIRUPATI: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced that the Sanjeevani Digital Healthcare project, aimed at providing predictive, preventive, and technology-enabled medicare to people, would be launched across Andhra Pradesh from August 15.
Participating in a programme on Sanjeevani at Yadamarri mandal in Puthalapattu constituency of Chittoor district on Saturday, the AP CM said the project is designed to identify diseases at an early stage through digital systems and provide prompt healthcare access.
Naidu pointed out that the programme had been launched as a pilot project in Kuppam last year and later expanded across Chittoor district from March 15, 2026, covering nearly 19.75 lakh people. Describing Sanjeevani as more than a software platform, he said it is a comprehensive digital public health operating system that will help Andhra Pradesh progress from illness to wellness.
“Under the scheme, 42 medical tests will continue being conducted at people’s doorsteps and stored as digital health records. Doctors would continuously monitor these records and provide preventive care. This monitoring may be taken over by an AI-enabled doctor soon,” the Chief Minister explained.
He revealed that the project has been named after the Sanjeevani herb that Lord Hanuman brought to save Lakshmana’s life during the Ramayana war.
Naidu stressed the importance of healthy lifestyles and preventive healthcare. He said food plays an important role in maintaining good health. “Food itself is medicine and the kitchen is a healing centre,” he remarked. He advised people to include yoga, meditation and pranayama in their daily routine. He said exercise and positive thinking are essential for a healthy life.
The CM pointed out that the state government has allocated `19,305 crore to the health sector this year, apart from securing `2,601 crore from the 15th Finance Commission as a health grant. “Under our Universal Health Policy, every citizen will receive medical coverage worth ₹2.5 lakh, while expenses up to `25 lakh will be covered through NTR Vaidya Seva and Chief Minister’s Relief Fund," he reiterated, revealing that vacancies in government hospitals are being filled.
Naidu said the government is working to transform Rayalaseema into a defence and industrial hub, with projects including a fifth-generation fighter aircraft manufacturing unit in Puttaparthi, drone manufacturing in Kurnool, aerospace and electronic city projects in Anantapur, and a bullet motorcycle manufacturing unit in Tirupati. He pointed out that gold mining operations in Kurnool are expected to begin next month. Further, the government is planning to invest `1 lakh crore on horticulture development in Rayalaseema.
Citing the El Nino effect and 49 degrees Celsius temperatures in Piduguralla, the Chief Minister asked people to conserve water amid the possibility of lower rainfall.
