Satya Kumar Assures NDA’s Support to Aiims for Development
CM allots 10-acre land for setting up a trauma care centre at Kolanukonda

Vijayawada: Health minister Satya Kumar Yadav assured all support of the NDA-alliance government for development of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Mangalagiri.
Satya Kumar offered the help when Mangalagiri AIIMS’ new director Prof. Ahanthem Santa Singh called on the minister at the Secretariat here on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that the centre had set up AIIMS over 183 acres of land at Mangalagiri in 2018. However, as no additional land is available to set up a trauma care centre, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed that a 10-acre site be allotted for it at Kolanukonda.
In this regard, Satya Kumar called for efforts to expeditiously set up the trauma centre.
As AIIMS is having only 650 beds against the sanctioned strength of 965 beds, the minister advised the institute’s new director to initiate necessary measures to enhance the bed strength.
Satya Kumar criticised the previous YSR Congress regime for failing to provide even drinking water facilities at the AIIMS. “NDA government provided potable water supply at the institute after coming to power in the state,” he pointed out. The minister said their government has also provided alternate power supply to AIIMS.
