Satyavedu MLA sexual harassment case; TD activist undergoes tests

Tirupati: A 36-year-old Telugu Desam (TD) party activist, who accused Satyavedu MLA Koneti Adimulam of sexual harassment, underwent medical examination at the Government Maternity Hospital in Tirupati on Thursday.

The medical examination comes after a week’s delay and amid political turmoil that led to MLA Adimulam's expulsion from the ruling TDP.

The case gained attention when the woman leader of Telugu Desam from Satyavedu held a press conference in Hyderabad on September 5. She accused Adimulam of repeated sexual harassment and provided private videos and call records as evidence.

Responding to these serious allegations, the TD leadership expelled the Satyavedu MLA from the party. The expulsion came amid widespread protests by women's wing activists across Andhra Pradesh.

Tirupati Rural police registered a case after the victim alleged that Adimulam had sexually exploited her thrice in July at a private hotel in Tirupati. Initially, the victim avoided medical examination twice when requested by local police. However, she finally got admitted to the Government Maternity Hospital in Tirupati on Wednesday. Doctors performed various tests on Thursday.

Hospital medical superintendent Dr. Parthasaradhi Reddy informed reporters that a team of six doctors examined the victim and collected samples. These will be sent to the Regional Forensic Science Laboratory.

"We expect the results within 10–15 days. We will submit our report to the police department thereafter,” Dr. Reddy stated.
