SC Dismisses YSRC's Challenge To ECI Circular Relaxing Postal Ballot Norms

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday refused to entertain a petition filed by YSRC challenging relaxation of postal ballot norms by the Election Commission of India in Andhra Pradesh.

"In the facts and circumstances of this case, we do not find any merit," the vacation bench of Justices Aravind Kumar and Sandeep Mehta observed dismissing the petition filed by the YSRC party.
The Election commission has issued a directive about Form 13A. It said, "Postal ballots where the attesting officer as authorised by the RO put his signature identifying the elector, based on his personal knowledge/ identification but has not mentioned his name, designation or put their seal, be considered valid by the Returning Officer (RO) for further processing of the postal ballot at the time of counting."
