Scholar Explains Gita Teachings At Shankaracharya Memorial Week
Addressing devotees, Dr Girija Lakshmi said even the deepest philosophy finds fulfilment only through practice

Nellore: The fourth day of the ongoing Shankaracharya Memorial Week featured a discourse on the Bhagavad Gita by noted scholar Dr Kappara Girija Lakshmi at the Adi Shankara Dhyana Mandiram in Gandhi Nagar on Wednesday evening.
Addressing devotees, Dr Girija Lakshmi said even the deepest philosophy finds fulfilment only through practice. Drawing from Chapters 11 to 18 of the Bhagavad Gita, she explained concepts such as Vishwaroopa Darshanam, Purushottama Yoga and Moksha Sanyasa Yoga in simple terms.
Referring to Arjuna’s transformation on the battlefield, she said Lord Krishna revealed his cosmic form to remove doubt and illusion, guiding Arjuna towards clarity of purpose. She added that the ultimate message of the Gita lies in surrender, assuring that those who seek refuge in the divine are granted liberation.
The programme was presided over by managing trustee Chakrala Anand Kumar and began with a welcome to guests and devotees.
Dr Girija Lakshmi was felicitated with traditional honours by Chakrala Venkata Lakshmi Narasimham and Nagaratna Kumari, along with Mulumudi Uday Kumar Sharma and Sridevi.
Several devotees and cultural patrons attended the event, reflecting growing enthusiasm for the week-long commemoration being conducted with devotion and reverence.
Swami Samayananda Nath announced that the fifth day would feature a Veena Nadarchana by the disciples of Kavuri Hema Lakshmi and invited devotees to attend in large numbers.
