SCS not merely a demand, but AP’s right: YSRC

Vijayawada: YSRC Rajya Sabha member Y.V. Subba Reddy asserted in the Rajya Sabha that special category status (SCS) for Andhra Pradesh is not merely a demand, but a right of the people of Andhra Pradesh, which has suffered immensely due to an unjust bifurcation.

Speaking on the Motion of Thanks to the President's address to Parliament, he pointed out that the Telugu Desam is in power in Andhra Pradesh and sharing power with the NDA government at the centre.
“So, it is high time Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu prevailed upon the centre to grant special category status to the state,” Subba Reddy underlined.
He reminded the centre that there are many pending issues following the truncation of Andhra Pradesh State. These include cancellation of the centre’s move to privatise the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant. He pointed out that allocation of captive iron mines will revive the steel plant and make it profitable.
The YSRC RS member requested the centre to sanction a metro from the new Bhogapuram airport to Visakhapatnam. He asked the union government to increase the safety of passengers in trains by upgrading Kavach, the automated train protection safety system designed to prevent collisions on the same track.
Subba Reddy asked the railways to complete its work on the Nadikudi-Srikalahasti line at the earliest, he added. He requested the centre to complete works on the Visakhapatnam-Chennai industrial corridor.
The MP Highlighted the initiatives of erstwhile Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy regime in enhancing the medical education infrastructure by opening 16 new medical colleges in the government sector. He pointed to the family doctor programme that provided preventive healthcare to people in Andhra Pradesh.
