Search for elusive leopard continues in East Godavari

Kakinada: Forest officials in East Godavari district are intensifying their efforts to locate a leopard that has been spotted in the Diwancheruvu Reserve Forest area in Rajanagaram Mandal.

Two teams of officials, led by district forest officer S. Bharani, are actively searching for the animal and have set up cameras in various locations to capture evidence of its presence.
Rumours have been circulating on social media that a leopard killed a calf in Regunathapuram village. However, forest officials have investigated the incident and found no evidence to support these claims. The calf is believed to have been killed by a canine, such as a dog or fox, rather than a leopard.
Bharani has urged the public to refrain from spreading misinformation, as it can create unnecessary panic and hinder search operations.
She has warned that strict action will be taken against individuals who disseminate false information through various media channels.
