Second Flood Warning Withdrawn at Prakasam Barrage
Vijayawada: With the Krishna River's water levels receding, water resources authorities withdrew the second flood warning at Prakasam Barrage at 3:30 am on Wednesday, when the water level stood at 14.9 feet above the crest.
The second warning was initially issued on September 1 at 7:00 am due to unprecedented heavy inflows, with a record discharge of 11.43 lakh cusecs on September 2.
By Wednesday night at 9:00 pm, nearly three lakh cusecs were being discharged into the sea downstream from the barrage. Meanwhile, water levels in the Godavari River continue to rise, with 7.42 lakh cusecs being released into the sea from Sir Arthur Cotton Barrage at Dowleswaram as of 10:00 pm, and the trend is rising.
