Security beefed up at Masjids across Andhra Pradesh for Bakrid
KAKINADA: The police of Dr BR.Ambedkar Konaseema and East Godavari districts have beefed up security at the Masjids in these regions on the eve of Bakrid on Monday.
Konaseema SP, S Sridhar, said that as per a high court directive and instructions from the Animal Welfare Board, slaughtering and trafficking of cows and animals was a crime. Nobody should slaughter cows and animals irrespective of occasions.
Stringent action would be taken against those slaughtering and trafficking in the animals, he warned.
East Godavari SP, P Jagadish, said religious harmony and peace should be maintained while the festival is celebrated with fervour. Provocative speeches and obscene posts on the social media should be avoided. Such actions would result in registration of criminal cases.
He requested the public to inform the police about trafficking and slaughtering of cows and animals, to the control room on whatsapp number 9164880083, or dial 112/100 or the nodal officer phone number 9490760844. The names of those who give such information would be kept confidential, the police said.
