Senior Lecturers Demand Reversal of YSRC Order

Tirupati: Senior lecturers in the state are demanding the immediate reversal of an order issued by the YSRC government to promote 197 junior lecturers as principals in government junior colleges. The Commissioner of Intermediate Education issued the order just a day before the election code of conduct took effect in the state.

This move has sparked outrage among senior lecturers. "The previous government's actions have violated established norms and disregarded the rights of senior lecturers who have dedicated years of service to our educational system," said a senior lecturer, speaking on the condition of anonymity. "We deserve a fair chance at promotion based on our experience and qualifications," he added.
Protesting the decision, the government Library Science Junior Lecturers’ Association has moved to the High Court after the previous government moved into caretaker mode under the election code. It has requested the Court to quash the order claiming that the promotion process overlooked their seniority, in violation of GO 76, and lacked merit and transparency.
After hearing their petition, the High Court stayed the order. However, the Court's ruling has not yet been implemented. Now, the demand for implementation of the Court’s ruling has gained momentum. "We have approached senior government officials and state education minister Nara Lokesh urging immediate implementation of the Court's orders. We insist on the reversal of the promotions granted by the previous government under dubious circumstances," the association leaders said.
The association has demanded the creation of a departmental committee to ensure a transparent selection process, based on seniority and guidelines. They also demanded an investigation into the irregularities in these promotions.
