Serial Temple and House Burglar Arrested in Markapuram

Nellore: Police in Markapuram arrested a 23-year-old habitual offender involved in a series of thefts targeting temples, locked houses and a wine shop in Cumbum and Ardhaveedu mandals.

The accused, Bhupani Sai of Jaggambotla Krishnapuram village, allegedly carried out thefts at temples in Magutur and Ravipadu, stealing hundi cash and gold ornaments. He also targeted locked houses in Shirdi Sai Nagar and Nadimpalli and a wine shop near the RTC bus stand in Cumbum.

Acting on the directions of superintendent of police V. Harshavardhan Raju, special teams led by DSP U. Nagaraju and inspector K. Mallikarjuna apprehended the accused near Ankallamma temple on the outskirts of Cumbum on Monday morning.

Police recovered stolen property worth about `5 lakh, including 40 grams of gold, 25 tolas of silver ornaments and `20,000 in cash. The accused, who has a prior criminal record, had resumed thefts after being released from jail.

In a separate case, police arrested China Saida Rao and recovered 20 grams of stolen gold ornaments. The SP commended the investigation team for cracking the cases and recovering the property.
