Seven booked for drunk driving in Nandyal

Kurnool: During raids conducted by police officers in Nandyal district on Tuesday and Wednesday, a total of seven drunk driving cases were registered. Additionally, 96 cases of public drinking were booked. Under the Motor Vehicle Act, 185 cases were filed across the district, resulting in fines amounting to Rs 78,135.

In Dhone town, nine individuals were apprehended for playing cards behind the municipal office, with a cash seizure of Rs 11,400. The SEB and civil police registered five cases, confiscating 150 liters of illicit liquor during their raids. In three DPL cases, authorities recovered 13.10 liters of liquor and destroyed 700 liters of jaggery wash. Additionally, a case was registered against four people for illegal sand transportation, leading to the seizure of three vehicles and 34 tonnes of sand.

Fire breaks out at coconut shop in Srisailam

In the early hours of Wednesday, a fire broke out at a private dry coconut shop, resulting in some stock being gutted. Fire officials reported no major damage. The incident occurred within the Srisailam temple premises, where coconuts are stored for drying before oil extraction. Upon learning of the fire, EO D. Peddiraju and others rushed to the scene and directed fire tenders to extinguish the flames immediately. No other properties were damaged.
