Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh is expected to face extreme weather on Friday, with the AP State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) warning of severe heat wave conditions across multiple districts. It forecast the possibility of unseasonal rains with lightning in select coastal and southern regions.
APSDMA managing director Prakhar Jain said North Andhra is likely to face intense heat, while Rayalaseema could record peak temperatures. Simultaneously, a trough stretching from Telangana to the Mannar may trigger light-to-moderate showers in Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli, Kakinada, Konaseema, Annamayya, and Chittoor districts.
According to APSDMA, 16 mandals across Vizianagaram, Parvathipuram, Manyam, Polavaram, and Eluru districts are expected to face severe heat waves. These include Badangi, Bobbili, Terlam, and Vangara in Vizianagaram; Balijipeta, Garugubilli, Jiyyammavalasa, Parvathipuram, Salur, Seethampeta, and Seethanagaram in Parvathipuram Manyam; Chinturu, Kunavaram, and Vararamachandrapuram in Polavaram; and Kukunuru and Velerupadu in Eluru.
Additionally, 19 other mandals across Vizianagaram, Manyam, Polavaram, Eluru, and NTR districts are expected to experience heat waves.
Prakhar Jain urged people, especially women, children, and elderly, to remain cautious, as they are more vulnerable to heat-related illnesses. Residents have been advised to consume plenty of fluids to prevent dehydration.
