Sify Technologies plans major investment in Andhra Pradesh

Vijayawada: Education and IT minister Nara Lokesh has extended an invitation to Sify Technologies to invest in Andhra Pradesh. The minister met the company’s chairman and MD, Raju Vegesna, at the former’s residence in Undavalli.

The two sides discussed opportunities for investments and scope for creating job opportunities for the state’s youth. “The meeting was successful as Sify expressed an interest to invest in AP,” official sources said.

During the meeting, Vegesna pointed out that “Sify Technologies is a prominent name among the Fortune 500 companies in the country.” Sify Data Services catered to the needs of various companies, including several banks across Indian cities as well as entities in North America, the United Kingdom, and Singapore, he said.

The discussions also focused on Sify's plans to expand its operations in Andhra Pradesh including establishment of a mega data centre and a cable landing station in Visakhapatnam.

Lokesh elaborated on the current investment opportunities in the state, the services provided by the government as part of the "Speed of Doing Business" initiative, and the newly introduced IT policies aimed at attracting investors. He said investments in Andhra Pradesh aimed at bolstering the local economy and providing job opportunities for the youth and promised full cooperation from the government to investors and industrialists.

Raju Vegesna expressed Sify’s interest in investing in Andhra Pradesh, affirming the potential for growth. In response, Lokesh encouraged Sify representatives to consult with the Economic Development Board and prepare future plans.
