Skilled AP farmers to train Sri Lankans in natural farming

Anantapur: Skilled farmers from Andhra Pradesh will visit Sri Lanka to provide hands-on training to farmers of that country in natural farming. A decision in this regard has been taken after a Sri Lankan delegation visited Anantapur to check out how natural farming is being carried out in the region.

Natural farming has proven to be highly beneficial in drought-prone districts like Anantapur, where rain-fed agriculture is predominant, stated V. Lakshmana Naik, chief technology and innovation officer of Rythu Sadhikara Samstha (RySS), who is also the district project manager of APCNF (Andhra Pradesh Community-Managed Natural Farming). Lakshmana Naik was speaking after the Sri Lankan delegation saw for itself implementation of the natural farming programme in Anantapur district. Naik informed the visitors about the crucial role women’s groups play in implementing natural farming using bio-stimulants and botanical extracts.The Sri Lankan team visited the Jellipalli village in Kuderu mandal, where they inspected the grape vineyard and mango orchard of farmer Adinarayana. They also attended a demonstration of preparing bio stimulants like Ghana Jeevamrutham and Drava Jeevamrutham. RySS project executive Madhupreeti, APCNF district agricultural officer Krishna Chaitanya,, consultant Narendra and project manager Anuradha accompanied the Sri Lankan delegation.
