Tirupati: The grand finale of the Smart India Hackathon 2024, a prominent event in India’s technological and educational calendar, began on a high note at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Tirupati. This two-day software edition, which commenced on Wednesday, has garnered nationwide attention, bringing together 22 teams from across the country.
Each team, comprising six students and two mentors, is participating in a 36-hour coding marathon to solve challenges posed by the ministry of AYUSH. The event kicked off with an opening address by IIT Tirupati director Prof. K.N. Satyanarayana, who praised the participants' enthusiasm and emphasised the institute's commitment to fostering innovation. Dr. Renu Dixit, Principal of Sri Venkateswara Ayurvedic College, Tirupati, was the chief guest and spoke about the importance of blending traditional Ayurvedic knowledge with modern technology. The problems range from creating a secure portal for AYUSH startup registrations to designing interactive platforms for medicinal plants and automating annual report preparation for educational institutions. The solutions aim to bridge the gap between traditional practices and modern needs. Winners, announced on Thursday, will receive cash prizes and an opportunity to make a lasting impact on key sectors.
