Kakinada: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials, headed by its Eluru DSP V. Subba Raju, caught Social Welfare College warden red-handed while she was accepting Rs 30,000 as bribe from P. Jhansi, a hostel outsourcing staff, working as a housekeeper and sanitation worker, on Thursday night at Nuzvid in Eluru district.

Nagamani, the warden, threatened Jhansi in December, saying she would be removed from service if she did not pay Rs 3 lakh to her. Jhansi expressed her inability to pay such a huge sum and requested her to allow her in the job. Finally, Nagamani settled for Rs 30,000.
Meanwhile, Jhansi approached ACB officials who set up a trap. On Thursday, Nagamani told Jhansi to bring the money to her house. Jhansi and her husband went to Nagamani’s house and her husband took the money.
When ACB officials rushed to the spot, Nagamani’s husband Ramoji Rao tried to escape by jumping from the parapet. ACB officials caught him. Nagamani and her husband were arrested and produced before the court at Vijayawada on Friday.
