Vizianagaram: SP Vakul Jindal conducts inspection of Rajam PS
Vizianagaram: Vizianagaram superintendent of police (SP) Vakul Jindal, conducted an annual inspection of the Rajam police station on Wednesday, emphasising the commitment to combat drug trafficking in the region. “We are hitting the main sources of ganja,” stated SP Jindal.
The SP stressed upon the importance of building a robust informer network at the village level to combat the menace. “Evidence and technical documentation must be thoroughly collected to ensure conviction of those involved in ganja transportation,” he said.
During the inspection, the SP examined the station’s facilities, including lock-up cells, property room, and seized-vehicle storage area. He reviewed various station records, including crime files, history sheets, and ongoing investigation documents, directing officers to expedite case resolutions with proper evidence collection.
He also issued directives on implementation of weekly village visits by police personnel to gather intelligence on anti-social activities, enhancement of “Sankalpam” programme to create awareness about drug abuse, installation of safety measures along the national highway, including caution boards and improved lighting at accident-prone areas and strengthening of cyber crime prevention efforts and public awareness about digital fraud.

District admin launches hygiene, sanitation drive
Visakhapatnam: A multi-faceted initiative focusing on hand hygiene, sanitation, and waste management was kick-started in Parvathipuram Manyam district. Collector A. Shyam Prasad inaugurated the programme through teleconference in the presence of district and mandal officials .
The initiative gives special emphasis on inculcating hand hygiene habits among children, particularly at the Anganwadi level. Speaking on the occasion, the collector said, “We can reduce the risk of infection by 70 percent, if we wash our hands regularly.” The collector also gave instructions to the Women Child Welfare Officer and District Education Officer for ensuring continuous water supply and proper upkeep of hygienic practices in Anganwadis, schools and colleges. Outlining the importance of universal access to toilets and its proper maintenance, Prasad said, “The septic tank should be properly maintained. Otherwise it becomes a breeding ground for mosquitoes.”
