Speaker May Quit to Save Narsipatnam RTC Site
Visakhapatnam: The Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker Ayyanna Patrudu has declared he would quit his position if necessary to save the Narsipatnam RTC site from being handed over to private entities. He inspected the soil dumped by the contractor for private construction in the area designated for RTC development in Narsipatnam. He stated, “The Narsipatnam RTC complex was leased to private individuals by the previous government. I strongly opposed this decision and halted the leasing process. If needed, I can quit my post to protect this site.”
On the night of August 22, following the unauthorised soil dumping on the site, Speaker Ayyanna Patrudu and his son Chintakayala Rajesh visited the site. They demanded an explanation from the depot manager. Depot manager Dheeraj stated that he did not issue a no objection certificate (NOC) to the lessee and no permission was granted for soil dumping.
Ayyanna Patrudu has emphasised that the RTC should make optimal use of the acquired land and the land would be essential for the organisation’s future requirements. The Speaker stated, “This land belongs to the community and the people must safeguard it. It is unjustifiable for individuals to engage in commercial activities on land that farmers relinquished.”
