Special Drive: Nellore Cops Book Over 250 Cases in Two Hours

Tirupati: The Nellore Police launched a late-night special drive across the district to tackle illegal activities and enforce traffic regulations. The operation, led by Superintendent of Police G. Krishna Kanth, took place from 11 PM on Saturday to 1 AM on Sunday, focusing on key highways, major junctions, and entry-exit points to monitor vehicular movement and curb unlawful transportation.

During the drive, police teams conducted extensive vehicle checks to prevent criminal activities, with a particular focus on violations such as drunk driving, speeding, and underage driving. SP Krishna Kanth stated that the drive was aimed at ensuring road safety and maintaining law and order. “We are committed to reducing accidents and preventing illegal activities by strictly enforcing traffic rules," he said.

The operation led to the registration of 37 cases for public alcohol consumption and 20 cases for drunk driving. Additionally, 200 cases were filed under the Motor Vehicles Act for various violations, resulting in the seizure of 29 motorcycles. A total of ₹1,01,400 in fines was collected during the drive.

Police penalized several violations, including triple riding on two-wheelers, using mobile phones while driving, and unauthorized parking. Special attention was given to enforcing helmet usage and curbing dangerous practices like speeding and wrong-way driving on highways.

SP Krishna Kanth assured that similar drives would be conducted regularly to ensure public safety and deter criminal activities. “Drivers must understand that following traffic rules is crucial for their own safety and the safety of others,” he stated. He urged citizens to cooperate with the police by adhering to traffic regulations and practicing responsible driving.
