Visakhapatnam: Union Minister of State for Steel and Heavy Industries, Bhupathiraju Srinivas Verma, has praised the Union Budget 2025-26 at a meeting here on Sunday, emphasizing its focus on inclusive development.

Speaking as the chief guest at the budget analysis meet, he highlighted several key budget initiatives, including tax relief to middle-class earners for up to Rs 12 lakh annually, despite an estimated Rs 1lakh crore reduction in government revenue.

He also cited the increase in Kisan Credit Card limits from Rs 3 lakh to Rs 5 lakh, benefiting approximately 8 crore farmers.

The minister listed the developmental initiatives for Visakhapatnam, including plans to set up an AI center and a Rs 11,440 crore allocation for renovating the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant. "The Centre has no intention of privatizing the steel plant," he said.

On healthcare and education, he noted that MBBS seats have increased from 51,000 in 2014 to 62,000, with plans to add 75,000 more medical seats nationwide in the next five years. He also mentioned the establishment of 18 AIIMS hospitals across India, including one in Andhra Pradesh.

The event was attended by BJP legislature party leader Vishnu Kumar Raju, BJP state vice president and former MLC Madhav, along with various BJP leaders and sector representatives.
