Steps for Early Cancer Setection and Prevention: Collector

Kurnool: District collector P. Ranjit Basha announced that, following directives from both the central and state governments, steps are being taken to detect and prevent cancer at an early stage. As part of these efforts, free cancer screening tests have been conducted in every home across the district. The Collector participated in the Preventive Oncology and Palliative Care programme at the State Cancer Institute's first conference at Kurnool Medical College on Saturday. Ranjit Basha emphasised that cancer can be cured if detected early and expressed pride in the establishment of the State Cancer Institute in Kurnool, equipped with advanced medical equipment valued at ₹30 crore for surgeries and chemotherapy. The Collector assured that any required support for the Cancer Institute would be promptly provided. Director of the State Cancer Institute Srikrishna Prakash highlighted the quality of services, while IIIT Registrar K. Gurumurthy stressed the importance of organic crops for health.

Collector cautions against errors in waqf land registrations

Kurnool district collector Ranjit Basha warned registration officers to avoid mistakes in waqf land registrations and instructed strict adherence to regulations. He also urged Municipal Commissioners to ensure compliance with building construction rules. During the first committee meeting, the formation of a district waqf protection committee was announced, which will meet regularly to address issues. The Collector directed RDOs to establish task forces at the mandal level to inspect all waqf and endowment lands, document encroachments, and submit a report within ten days. Additionally, he instructed the District Revenue Officer to develop a dedicated app to track survey numbers, inspections, encroachments, and present conditions, alongside uploading photographic evidence. Relevant department officials were present.

Boy dies after gate falls on him in Prakasam

A four-year-old boy, Surya, died in an accident at the Gundlapalli Growth Center in Maddipadu mandal on Saturday. Surya, the grandson of a watchman from Maddipadu, was playing near the main gate of the factory when it collapsed unexpectedly. The weakened gate fell directly onto Surya, causing fatal injuries. The child was immediately taken to the hospital, but doctors declared him dead. Maddipadu police have registered a case and are investigating.

Dalits file complaint against Roja in Kurnool

Dalit associations filed a complaint at the 3rd Town Police Station in Kurnool against former minister RK Roja over the Suryalanka Beach slipper-carrying incident. In February 2023, RK Roja, who was the tourism minister at the time, visited Suryalanka Beach in Bapatla district. During the visit, an employee named Manohar grabbed her sandals. Dalit organisations lodged the complaint on Saturday, accusing her of insulting Dalits. Three-Town Circle Inspector Seshaiah confirmed the complaint but stated that appropriate action would be taken after legal advice. Since the incident occurred in Bapatla, the complaint will be investigated there.

KIMS performs three surgeries simultaneously to save patient

Doctors at KIMS Hospital, Kurnool, performed three complex surgeries simultaneously to save 50-year-old Chandramohan, a farmer from Tadipatri. Initially seeking treatment for severe abdominal pain, Chandramohan was referred to KIMS Kurnool for treatment. Doctors diagnosed him with gallbladder stones and a severely weakened intestine that had undergone previous surgery. Dr. S.J. Janakiram, Consultant Surgical Gastroenterologist, performed a high-risk surgery to remove the gallbladder, reposition the intestine, and excise the damaged portion. Following the surgeries, his condition stabilised.

Ongole police raid spa centre

Police raided the V2 Spa Center in Ongole on Saturday, following a tip-off about anti-social activities. The raid, conducted by Ongole One Town Police near Parvathamma Temple, uncovered packets of ganja and condoms. A man was found receiving a massage from a woman during the raid. Police have registered a case against the spa's manager and are investigating further.

CU hosts awareness session on cybercrimes

An awareness session on cybercrimes was held on Saturday at KVR Government Women’s College, organised by the Psychology Department of Cluster University. The event, presided over by Principal Dr. VVS Kumar, emphasised the importance of using modern technology responsibly. Crime Branch Police Inspector Vijayalakshmi addressed students, urging them to recognise the tactics of cybercriminals and remain vigilant. Advocate Hemalatha encouraged women students to observe their surroundings and develop leadership qualities. Chief Guest DSP Mahbub Basha highlighted the need for mental strength in women, advising them to approach the police if they encounter cybercrimes. Circle Inspector (cyber wing) Venugopal and others participated.
