Subhash assures steps to curb industrial mishaps in AP

Vijayawada:Labour and factories minister Vasamsetti Subhash assured that steps will soon be initiated to curb industrial mishaps in the state.

Speaking to media persons at the secretariat on Tuesday, he disclosed that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had constituted a committee headed by retired IAS officer Vasudha Mishra to inspect industrial units and submit a report suggesting safety norms.

“The report is expected in 10–15 days. It will enable the government to initiate steps for ensuring industrial safety in the state,” Subhash said.

The minister mentioned that the state has 96 ESI dispensaries, four regional hospitals and four diagnostic entities. After the NDA alliance government assumed power, it set up ESI hospitals at Yelamanchili and Gunadala. He disclosed that the centre has, in principle, decided to set up ESI hospitals in Amaravati, Kurnool and Nellore.

Subhash charged that under the previous YSR Congress regime, safety auditing agencies had become collection agencies, resulting in industrial mishaps. He assured to take all requisite safety measures to avoid recurrence of such mishaps.
