Subhash visits injured workers after Parawada Gas Leak

Visakhapatnam: A tragic accident at Tagore Company in Parawada Pharma City has claimed the lives of two workers, while ten others are receiving treatment at KIMS Hospital and twenty more at Medicover Hospital due to inhalation of toxic gases. The incident has drawn criticism towards labour and factories minister Vasansetty Subhash for his response.
Minister Subhash visited the injured workers at KIMS Hospital but did not inspect the accident site or meet with trade union representatives. Gani Shetty Satyanarayana, vice-president of CITU Anakapalle district, alleged that the minister prioritised the interests of employers. "Minister Vasansetty Subhash announced merely ₹40 lakh for the families of the deceased workers without visiting their homes or the site of the accident. Such behaviour is unseemly," he said.
Meanwhile, Atchutapuram-based Essentia Pharma announced ₹1 crore for the families of deceased workers and ₹50 lakh for the injured. In contrast, Satyanarayana criticised Tagore Laboratory for allocating only ₹40 lakh, calling it indicative of an anti-labour stance within the pharmaceutical sector. The trade union leader urged authorities to investigate the accident thoroughly, attributing the injuries to managerial negligence and insufficient safety measures. He also called for stringent safety protocols to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
