Visakhapatnam: After a fortnight of relentless rains that caused significant damage and resulted in the tragic loss of 46 lives, residents of Andhra Pradesh are finally experiencing some relief as sunny weather returns to most parts of the State. The heavy rainfall persisted for over ten days, leading to landslides in some areas and necessitating the evacuation of affected people to safer locations.
According to S. Stella, director of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the weather is expected to stabilise over the next three to four days, with a low-pressure system currently situated in the northeast. However, the IMD has issued weather warnings for the next five days, indicating that lower tropospheric westerly winds are prevailing over Andhra Pradesh and Yanam. Some areas could experience strong surface winds reaching speeds of 30-40 km/h, particularly in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema.
On Wednesday, the highest temperature recorded was in Nellore at 38.1 degrees Celsius, followed by Tirupati at 37.2 degrees and Bapatla at 36.3 degrees. Other notable temperatures included Ongole at 35.7 degrees, Visakhapatnam at 33.1 degrees, Tuni at 35.7 degrees and Kakinada at 35 degrees.
