Kurnool: Swathi celebrations were held with grandeur at the renowned Vaishnava shrine of Ahobilam on Monday. As Swathi star is considered the birth star of the presiding deity, special rituals were performed to mark the occasion. The day began with Suprabhata Seva to awaken the Lord, followed by daily worship.
The deities—Prahlada Varadaswamy, Sridevi, and Bhudevi—were anointed with Panchamritham, adorned with special decorations, and placed in a beautifully arranged mirrored mandapam. A homagundam was set up before the deities, where the Swathi Sudarshana Homam was performed with religious fervour.
Devotees participated in the rituals and received the Bhatuka from the homam, offering prayers to the Lord. The priests then performed Maha Mangala Harati. The celebrations were conducted under the auspices of the temple’s chief priest, Kidambi Venugopalan.
