Tanuku SI ends life at police station

Kakinada: A Sub-Inspector of Police AGS Murthy, 38, committed suicide by shooting himself with his gun at Tanuku rural police station in West Godavari District on Friday Morning.
According to police officials, Murthy was working as SI of Tanuku station. But he was sent to VR recently on the allegations of his role in a buffaloes’ theft case. On Thursday, he was deployed to duty for the visit of the Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to Penugonda in West Godavari District. It is learnt that he went to his relative’s house near Tanuku and came to Tanuku rural police station on Friday morning and took this extreme step at bathroom. The police station staff shifted his body to area hospital at Tanuku in 108 ambulance.
It is said that after sending him to VR, he was in a distress situation and the colleagues have advised him to instill confidence in him. He is native of Gangavaram village in Dr.B.R.Ambedkar Konaseema district.
