Task Force arrests 5 smugglers, seizes 28 Red Sanders logs
Tirupati: In two separate operations, the Red Sanders Anti-Smuggling Task Force (RSASTF) arrested five smugglers and seized 28 red sanders logs, along with three vehicles, in the areas surrounding Vadamalapet and Puthalapattu.
Under orders from L. Subba Rayudu, Superintendent of Police of Tirupati district and RSASTF in-charge, teams led by Task Force SP P. Srinivas conducted combing operations. A team led by RI Suresh Kumar Reddy searched the Vadamalapet forest area within the Puttur section on Thursday, seizing 26 red sanders logs, a truck, and a car. Four smugglers were apprehended, while others escaped. Of those arrested, three are from Tiruvannamalai district in Tamil Nadu and one from Tiruvallur district.
In a separate incident, a team led by RSI Vishnu Vardhan Kumar intercepted a car near Rangampet on the Chittoor-Kadapa highway, near Puthalapattu. The vehicle was found transporting two logs. One person was arrested, identified as a resident of Annamayya district, while others fled.
