TD allocated Rs 39,000 cr for BC welfare: Savita

VIJAYAWADA: BC welfare minister S. Savita highlighted that the TD-led NDA government allocated Rs 39,000 crore in the 2024-25 annual budget for BC welfare. She asserted that the empowerment of backward classes is only possible under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in the state.

Speaking on the occasion, Savita alleged that former Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy neglected the welfare of backward and downtrodden sections, destabilised the BC Welfare Corporation by diverting its funds, and cancelled subsidy loans for BC communities between 2019 and 2024 in the state.

Additionally, Savita accused the YSRC government of cancelling the Adarana scheme, which aimed to provide modernised tools to practising artisans in BC communities. She further alleged that the previous YSRC government discontinued all welfare schemes for BCs that were implemented by the Chandrababu Naidu government between 2014 and 2019.

Savita assured that the government is committed to the empowerment of Nayee Brahmins and urged Chairman Sadasivam to ensure that all eligible beneficiaries receive the welfare schemes being implemented by the government.

Savita congratulated the newly appointed Nayee Brahmin corporation chairman, Rudrakoti Sadasivam, who met the minister at her camp office in Tadepalli on Wednesday.
