Telugu Desam leaders hail ‘People’s Budget’

Roads minister BC Janardhan Reddy said the budget has given equal priority to all sections of the people and the Kisan Credit Cards limit has been increased to Rs 5 lakh

VIJAYAWADA: Senior Telugu Desam leaders have hailed the Union Budget presented in parliament on Saturday and termed it a “People’s budget’.

Union civil aviation minister Ram Mohan Naidu, Union rural development minister Pemmasani Chandrasekhar and TD parliamentary party leader Lavu Srikrishna Devarayalu welcomed the budget proposals, saying these would promote welfare and development.

Ram Mohan Naidu said giving income tax exemption upto Rs 12 lakh was historic. “This will benefit the middle class more.

He said chief minister Chandrababu Naidu had requested the Centre to extend the period of works under the Jal Jeevan Mission as the deadline was nearing, and FM Nirmala Sitharaman did so till 2028. This would be useful in providing drinking water through taps to every household in the state. “MSMEs have been given priority in the budget and this would help AP too,” he said and thanked Nirmala Sitharaman for extending the UDAN scheme for another 10 years.

Agriculture minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu expressed happiness over the budget, saying it is a pro-farmer government. “This budget is not limited to just one class or group but is focused on development and welfare of all sections, especially farmers, women, youth and the middle class.”

He said that ₹ 1,71,437 crore has been allocated for the agriculture sector, making it an agriculture-centric budget.

Roads minister BC Janardhan Reddy said the budget has given equal priority to all sections of the people and the Kisan Credit Cards limit has been increased to Rs 5 lakh.

Housing minister Kolusu Parthasaradhi stated that the announcement of benefits for MSMEs would help the agriculture and industrial sectors and would save them from the pain of debt. “The priority given to Polavaram and Visakhapatnam Steel is a good development. The Union Budget is a people-friendly one,” he added.
