52L New Members in TDP: CM Naidu
Vijayawada: Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, who leads the Telugu Desam party, has reiterated his commitment to revitalizing the party and developing the state.
During a tele-conference with MPs, MLAs, MLCs and other party leaders at various levels on Wednesday, Naidu congratulated them for their dedication and an impressive enrolment of 5.2 million new members during the present membership drive. He praised minister Lokesh for his “focused efforts” in this direction.
The chief minister said he was bringing the state back on track as it was "degraded" during the past five years of the YSRC rule. Those who worked hard for the success of the party in elections have been appointed in nominated administrative posts, he said.
He said, “TD activists had worked very hard in the recent elections. Some of them have lost their properties or lives during the term of the last government. TD leaders strived so hard for the success of the TD-led NDA that the party won 57 per cent of the polled votes with a 93 per cent strike rate in terms of seats. We have lost 11 seats with a slender margin," he noted .
Maintaining that a “political governance system” has been introduced now, Naidu said the party will be interlinked with the government to take the welfare programmes forward.
Informing the party leaders that elections will be held to irrigation societies and cooperative bodies soon, the CM said party activists should work for the success of the alliance candidates.
“The membership enrollment programme was launched on October 26 and 52.45 lakh members have enrolled themselves till now. This is a historic achievement for the party. Rajampet, Kuppam, Kalyanadurgam, Palakol, Atmakur, Mangalagiri, Kanigiri, Koduru, Vinukonda and Kavali stood on top 10 in the membership enrolment,” he said.
"I appreciate the efforts of local leaders and minister Nara Lokesh for evincing special interest in the membership enrolment," Naidu said, adding, the enrolment process has picked up fast in Telangana too.
“It is the TD that introduced the system of permanent membership with `1 lakh, which is getting tremendous response. The membership fee will be utilised for the welfare of the party activists.
The insurance amount too is increased to Rs 5 lakh, the CM said and promised to help the party activists both financially and politically. Naidu also announced that heads for all the wings of the party will soon be appointed.
Stating that Rs 1,400 crore has been sanctioned for road repair, he said the government will ensure that no road will have pits by the time of Sankranthi.
"We are marching ahead with the aim of providing employment to the youth. This is a government that gives highest priority for welfare," Naidu said.
The chief minister made it clear that action will be taken as per law against those who commit atrocities in the guise of power. Revenue camps will soon be organised to resolve the land issues, he added.
