Telugu inscription of Bana King found at Pulivendula

Vijayawada: An inscription attributed to Bana king Devalayaraju, engraved on a slab depicting an image of Nandi, has been discovered at the site of an old sub-treasury office in Pulivendula in YSR Kadapa district.

The inscription, written in Telugu, features characters from the eighth-ninth century CE.
According to Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) director (epigraphy) K. Munirathnam Reddy, it records a gift of 100 marutars of paddy fields (pannasa), measured in rajamana, to an individual named Charikamaya by the Bana king.
The discovery was made with the assistance of M. Ashok Kumar from Pulivendula and Vempalli Gangadhar from Kadapa.
