Kurnool: Three children lost their lives while swimming in Prakasam district on Sunday. Five boys from S. Kothapalli village in Peddaraveedu mandal went swimming in a water puddle near the village. Three of the boys, who were unable to swim, drowned in the shallow water, while the other two were rescued by bystanders.
The deceased have been identified as Kothapalli Siva, 10, Kothapalli Manu, 8, and Araveeti Yedukondalu, 9, all from Kothapalli village. Their bodies have been shifted to Markapuram District Headquarters Hospital for post-mortem examination. The site of the incident was not a natural pond or canal, but a man-made pit designed to hold water, with plastic rails used to stop the water flow. According to local police, the children drowned while playing and swimming. Peddaraveedu Police have registered a case and are investigating.
