Thundershowers continue to lash AP
Visakhapatnam: Thundershowers continued to lash coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema. “More rain was expected in the coming days,” IMD Amaravati stated on Sunday.
The rainfall was above normal in several areas. Kakinada received 31.4mm against the normal fall of 4mm. ASR district received 25.6mm rainfall against the normal fall of 4.7mm. East Godavari received 37.9mm against the normal fall of 3.6mm. Vizianagaram received 18.2mm against normal fall of 3.6mm.
Meanwhile, the cyclonic circulation over northeast and adjoining east central Bay of Bengal persisted over the same region and is now seen lying between 4.5km and 5.8km above mean sea level.
Scattered low and medium clouds with embedded, intense to very intense convection, lay over north Bay of Bengal, central and southeast Bay of Bengal and Andaman sea.
The southwest monsoon has advanced into some more parts of the Arabian Sea, Gujarat, remaining parts of Maharashtra, some more parts of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, remaining parts of Odisha and some parts of Jharkhand.
“Conditions are favourable for further advancement of southwest monsoon into some more parts of north Arabian Sea and Gujarat; some more parts of Madhya Pradesh; remaining parts of Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar; and some parts of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand during next three to four days, IMD said.
