Visakhapatnam: The IMD Amaravathi on Sunday forecast thunderstorms accompanied with lightning at isolated places over north coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam till August 29.
The report also said strong surface winds with speed reaching 30 to 40 kmph are likely at isolated places over north and south coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema during the same period.
During the last 24 hours, heavy rains lashed north coastal Andhra Pradesh. Palakonda (ParvathipuramManyam district) received 9 cms of rain, Yellamanchili (Anakapalle district) 4.6 cms and Koyyalagudem (Eluru) received 4.5 cms. The day temperature increased marginally in many parts of the State, the IMD report said.
