Thunderstorms, temperature rise likely in AP: IMD

The IMD further noted that maximum temperatures are expected to rise by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius above normal across North and South Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema

Visakhapatnam: The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Amaravati, has forecast thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and a marginal increase in temperature over the next five days across Andhra Pradesh and Yanam.

According to the IMD report on Saturday, a trough in westerlies extends from South Gangetic West Bengal to North Coastal Andhra Pradesh at 0.9 km above mean sea level. Additionally, another trough in easterlies, previously stretching from Rayalaseema to South Chhattisgarh, now extends from North Kerala to Central Madhya Maharashtra at the same altitude.

Due to these weather patterns, isolated thundershowers with lightning are expected in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam. Morning shallow fog is also likely at isolated places in North and South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam.

The IMD further noted that maximum temperatures are expected to rise by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius above normal across North and South Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema. This temperature increase is likely to persist until February 26.

Authorities have advised residents, especially in affected areas, to take necessary precautions against thunderstorms and temperature fluctuations in the coming days.
