Tirumala Nambi Sattumora observed at Tirumala
Tirupati: The annual Tirumala Nambi Sattumora was observed at Tirumala on Sunday. This event honours Sri Tirumala Nambi, a Sri Vaishnavite devotee renowned for introducing the Theertha Kainkaryam (holy water service) to the sacred temple of Sri Venkateswara Swamy. There is a dedicated temple to Sri Tirumala Nambi on South Mada Street, where this Sattumora took place with religious fervour.
November holds special significance in the Tirumala hill town as it marks several Tiru Nakshatrotsavams—dedicated to the birth stars of revered devotees and sages, celebrated annually in their memory. Following Tirumala Nambi's Sattumora, on November 6, devotees will observe the Sattumora of Sri Manavala Mahamuni, believed to be an incarnation of Sri Ramanujacharya, who lived in the 14th century.
Furthermore, on November 9, the Tiru Nakshatram of Sri Vaishnavite saints such as Atri Maharshi, Sri Pillailokacharya, Sri Poigai Alwar, and Sri Pudattalwar will be celebrated. The Sattumora of Vedanta Desika is also planned for this day. Celebrations will continue with the Varsha Tiru Nakshatram of Peyalwar on November 10 and Sri Yajnavalkya Jayanti on November 11, allowing devotees to pay homage to the spiritual stalwarts who have contributed to the service of Srivaru over the centuries.
