Tirupati Accelerates Smart City Development Projects
Tirupati: Dr. S. Venkateswar, District Collector and Chairman of the Tirupati Smart City Corporation Limited (TSCCL), has called for an expedited approach to ongoing smart city development projects. Speaking at the 35th TSCCL board meeting on Thursday, he emphasised the need to accelerate work to deliver timely benefits to the city's residents.
Dr. Venkateswar stressed that the smart city projects are vital for transforming Tirupati into a modern, sustainable urban centre. He urged for improved coordination across departments to meet deadlines and realise the goals of the initiative.
The meeting, presided over by Smart City MD and Municipal Commissioner N. Mourya, reviewed previous decisions and financial accounts. Dr. Venkateswar highlighted the need for timely fund allocation to complete the 70% of development works currently in progress. He also called for the rapid installation of CCTV cameras throughout the city and the completion of the City Operations Centre.
Tirupati District Superintendent of Police (SP) L. Subba Rayudu underscored the importance of CCTV surveillance in maintaining safety in the city, given its status as a major spiritual centre with high pilgrim traffic. The meeting was attended by several officials, including Tirupati Urban Development Authority Vice Chairman Venkata Narayana and Superintendent Engineer T. Mohan.
