Tirupati: A 41-year-old auto driver was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a tribal minor girl in Bhagatsingh Colony, Nellore city on Wednesday.
According to police, the accused, Sheik Mohammad Ali, befriended the minor girl by offering her his mobile phone to play games and providing her with food. Over time, he gained her trust and lured her into his room on multiple occasions, where he allegedly assaulted her.
The abuse came to light when the girl’s behaviour changed, raising suspicions among her family. When questioned, the victim disclosed the abuse to her mother, who subsequently filed a complaint with the Nawabpet police.
The police registered a case against Mohammad Ali under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and arrested him.
